~Cap'n Rob
Part 3
By the first day of school Robin knew that this was going to be a difficult year. She and Min had managed to get placed together in Res, and already Min was swamped by her practicum, as was most of the class. Before the week was done everyone was busy and some of the techs were already behind on their homework. By the end of September everyone was exhausted and tempers were starting to flare.
Robin was dealing better than most of her class as she was working on Oz, rather than the first show of the year. She was just as busy as everyone else, but she didn’t have to work with anyone, just check in with Carrie.
It was Sunday evening and Min and Robin had been taking advantage of some rare spare time to procrastinate and watch Sailor Moon, which they were borrowing from Mel. Their roommates were (mercifully) gone for the moment, so they had some peace and quiet.
“How come we don’t get fancy outfits and sparkly backgrounds when we fight evil? Doesn’t seem fair.”
Min pondered that for a moment. “Well, I suppose we could get the costumers to make us something. And Jasmine can always give us a sparkly background.”
Robin got a mischievous look in her eye and turned to Min. “You know, we have some very cheesy looking objects in the props loft. They’d probably be perfect for a transformation sequence.”
“Let’s go!”
It didn’t take them long to reach the Arts Centre. They stopped at the round desk to pick up the props loft keys and waited fifteen minutes before they realised the commissionaire must have gone home already.
“Well, I guess that idea’s out. We’ll have to get them tomorrow.”
“Not so fast!” Robin took out her cell phone. “Mel has keys for everything.”
“Why does Mel have keys?”
“She does room set ups for Greg.” Robin sighed, hung up, and redialled Mel’s number. “Why does she never answer her phone the first time?”
“She looses it in her room.” Min said and went to sit on one of the Studio A chairs.
Mel was trying to fix the schedule for the film shoot her group had that week. It was the third time she’d written it up that night, and she was about ready to give up and schedule a 12-hour day when her phone started ringing. She groaned and searched for it.
“Hello?”
“Mel, are you busy?” Robin sounded much to excited on the other end.
“Sort of.”
“Can you come down to the Arts Centre for a few minutes? It won’t take long, I promise.”
Mel knew better than to believe that. “Why?”
“We’re trying to steal Sailor Moon transformation thingys from the props loft, but the commissionaire’s already gone home. We need your keys.”
“Don’t you have keys? You’re props person after all”
“Greg didn’t give me any. Please come, Mel. It’ll be fun.”
Mel knew that tone of voice. Robin wasn’t going to quit until she agreed.
“Fine, I’ll be there soon.”
“Yay! Thanks Mel.”
When Mel got to the Arts Centre she started feeling uneasy. Everything seemed normal, but she couldn’t shake the feeling that something was out of place. She tried scaning the Arts Centre, but she could only read Min, Robin, and the ghosts, who seemed to be having a party on Mainstage. No one else seemed to be nervous.
Min and Robin were talking about cranberry ginger-ale when Mel joined them. They decided to be lazy and take the elevator upstairs, while Mel told them about her uneasy feeling.
“I don’t even know if it’s actually anything.”
“No, you’re right. Now that I think about it, something does seem wrong.” Min stared at Mel and concentrated. The thought was on the tip of her brain, but she couldn’t quite reach it yet.
“Um, guys? I think the problem is that there’s a ninja here.”
Mel and Min both turned and saw that the door had opened and a very startled ninja was staring at them with weapons drawn.

I would laugh my ass off, but there are people all round and they're already giving me strange looks for grinning innanely at the computer.
I love you Robin!
